Step 1 - Selecting the custom curve

A) Switch on the camera.  
 
B) Press the "menu" button on the back of the camera.  
 
C) Use the navigation control (the round multi-button to the left of the LCD screen) to return to the top-level menu. To do this repeatedly press the left side of the control until you arrive at the menu with "Play, Shooting menu, CSM menu and Set Up".

D) Select "Shooting Menu" by pressing 'up' or 'down' and then 'right' to select it.  

E) Select "Optimize Image".

F) Scroll down until you find "Custom" and select it.

G) Scroll down to "Tone Comp." and select it

H) Scroll down until you find "Custom" and select it.

I) Scroll up to 'Done' and select it.

J) The camera is now using the custom curve.
